Unisa´s Master’s Degree Program in Medical Law is designed to equip practitioners with the advanced skills and knowledge required to rethink the medical-legal system with a view to improving health conditions as well as public and private healthcare services.
Driven by this objective, our Program focuses on empowering professors and researchers to reflect on and rethink health care as related with themes in Law.

Methodology
Our Master’s Program applies a multidisciplinary approach to developing the capacity to analyze, plan and redesign public and private health care services, as well as the ability to perform technical and legal modeling. In addition, the Program aims to develop capabilities related to the intersection between Law and Medicine, bringing together specialists from various areas of knowledge related to the theme. Such relationships offer a broad field of research, including:
- Medical liability (civil and criminal);
- Medicine’s relationship with administrative bodies and other players (non-governmental organizations, not-for-profit entities, civil society organization of public interest, etc.);
- Relationship with healthcare service providers and third parties not related to the healthcare area;
- Bioethics in public and private health relations; civil law governing family relationships, healthcare model impacting medical practice, among others.
Curriculum
The Program is divided into four semesters. By completion of the coursework, students are required to produce and submit a thesis to a panel of professors holding PhDs in legal and health fields and having specialization and expertise in the subject matter discussed in the research project developed by the student.
